Mail Art Project: The Making

Image
This is a continuation from the blog post, "Introduction to Mail Art Project". - Brief For this project, we were supposed to create a card/object that we would like to send back home. The theme is a response to something that I have accomplished during the last 2 months. Just like any other project, I was lost at first. When we were posed with this question, "What have you accomplished during the last 2 months in London?", I was speechless. Frankly, I did not know what I accomplished because I was so caught up with school projects and just trying to adapt to life in London. I decided to pen down my thoughts first before even coming up with an idea for a project. Penning down thoughts in my sketchbook. After penning down my thoughts, I realised that accomplishments do not have to be physical. Looking back at the past 2 months, I realised there's nothing that could dictate that I have accomplished something. There were no medals, trophies or certific...

Introduction to Mail Art Project

Brief For this project, we were supposed to create a card/object that we would like to send back home. The theme is a response to something that I have accomplished during the last 2 months. To kickstart our brainstorming, we did a collage workshop to explore and experiment with different ways we could create our card/object for the project. The workshop was broken down into 3 parts: 1. 3D Collage 2. Photo collage 3. It shows how faces are all around us, everywhere we look. It is an inspiring and imaginative book of unusual ways to create faces using print...

Visit to the ICA & 180 Strand

On Tuesday (5th Nov), we went on a field trip to the Insititute of Contemporary Arts and 180 Strand. The first place that we visited was the Institute of Contemporary Arts. The exhibit is called "Omnibus" which was curated by the Honey-Suckle Company, an art collective based in Berlin. We visited the ICA to get inspiration for our visual essay assignment, however, to be frankly honest, I did not quite understand the installations that were shown there. It was a little bit too abstract for me and I did not really enjoy them. Description of the exhibition. Image by author. However, there was an installation that intrigued me.   Ohn End , 2005 by Honey-Suckle Company Description This is a contemporary music composition and sound installation built by the Honey-Suckle Company in collaboration with Konrad Sprenger. The room houses blankets and metal rods draped over one another while Konrad's music composition is played in the background. After doing much res...
